Our Story of By The Bay Home Scents

Hi everyone, Jordan here, the owner of By The Bay Home Scents based here in Bangor, Co Down, Northern Ireland. We started this business in 2019 after venturing into wax melts as a hobby. I loved the process of the colours and scents coming together and used them in my own home. Soon friends and family wanted me to make them some too.

I looked at the current wax melts available and soon saw a niche where I could offer highly scented wax melts that also look fabulous, packaged with 100% recyclable material. I started getting interest from others and then By The Bay was born. Since then business has been great, growing day by day. The reviews have been overwhelming and I appreciate every single order.

Previously I started a beauty salon from home. I loved this business, having a lot of success. In 2019 I won Salon of the Year, County Down, at the Northern Ireland Hair and Beauty Awards. I had this business in the background, and when my clients were in, they loved how my salon smelt. I started selling them from my salon and it all kicked off from there.

During lockdown, I had to shut down my salon and our world was rocked upside down. While homeschooling my two daughters, puppy training and all the Joe Wicks workouts, I finally had the time and motivation to really put my all into By The Bay Home Scents.

My husband Darren and my lovely Dad, converted the garage into a fully functioning workshop and I made some amazing connections with other businesses. When lockdown lifted, I never opened up my salon doors again. The rest is history.

By The Bay Home Scents are now in 9 different shops and continue to grow. I'm so excited for whats next in our journey.
